Hanging Your Wreath Couldn't Be Easier

Hanging your wreath should be given just as much consideration as the type of wreath you buy. You want a hanging method that is simple, cost effective, and doesn’t damage your door. We have listed three common methods below.

Wreath Hanger

A wreath hanger is a piece of material usually plastic or metal that is moulded into an S-shape with a long, flat central section.

The hooks on either end that form the S-shape are what you use to hang your wreath. One hook goes over the top of your door, the flat central section hangs from this flat against your door, and the other hook is what your wreath hangs from.

These hangers can be used in seconds and require no drilling. They also give excellent positioning as you can simply slide the top hook along your door so the wreath sits centrally.

Ribbon

Ribbon makes for a great hanging method too and it also looks decorative and can complement the colours of your wreath. You use a ribbon and adhesive hook in a similar way to the wreath hanger.

On the back of your door you stick an adhesive hook and then loop the ribbon through it. With the ribbon looped through it, the other end of the ribbon should be place over the top of your door to hang down. You can then cut it to the correct length and tie it around your wreath.

Magnetic Hooks

Magnetic hooks are equally as convenient and have the benefit of no trailing material that is visible on your door. You essentially have a paid of magnets and one has a hook attached. You simply line up the magnets on either side of your door so they form a magnetic bond.

This will form a clamp and provide a stable hook for your wreath. We advise placing the hook magnet on the door first in the position you want it and then lining up the other magnet on the rear of your door.

What can I use instead of a wreath hanger?

Wreath hangers are some of the best accessories for your wreath but there are other hanging methods too. For example, you can use a combination of a ribbon and adhesive hook. The hook is placed on the back of your door then you tie the ribbon through hook, over your door, and through the wreath on the other side.

Magnetic hooks work pretty well too and don’t require any adhesive pads. These are a pair of plates with magnets in, and one of them has a hook on. You place the magnets either side of your door and the magnetic pull will keep them held together and make sure your wreath stays in place.

How to use a wreath hanger?

Wreath hangers are especially easy to use and only take a few minutes to get your wreath set up. They are an S-shaped piece of material usually plastic or metal with a longer central section. At each end there is a hook facing the opposite direction (like an S).

You first place one hook over the top of your door so that the other hook is facing outwards. Ideally this should be positioned in the centre of your door for symmetry. Next, hang your wreath over the outward facing hook – job done!

Will a wreath hanger damage your front door?

The great thing about wreath hangers and wreath hooks is that they require no drilling or adhesive. This means that they should never damage your door. You must still be really careful when attaching the hanger hooks over your door though, and how gently you place the long strip on your door.

As the material is usually plastic or metal, there is a possibility to scratch or dent your door if you are too rough. Move the hanger slowly and make sure that you don’t bang it against your door. This way you should cause no damage.

How do you hang a wreath without drilling?

We get that you don’t want to damage your smart front door but luckily there is a handful of ways to hang your decorative wreath without drilling. The quickest and easiest method is to use a wreath hanger. This simple device has two opposite-facing hooks – one that hangs over your door, and the other that the wreath hangs from.

Other similar methods include using magnetic hooks, adhesive command strips, and a ribbon and adhesive hook combination. All of these require no drilling and are quite easy to use.
