Pampas grass is a gorgeous flowering plant that has an iconic golden blossom that resembles feathers, cotton candy, or wheat. The colour is amazing and pampas wreaths have a beautiful rustic look and are brilliant in the spring, summer, and autumn.

Pampas wreaths are unique in that oftentimes they are only made from the pampas flower. The stems are wound in a circular shape and you get a gorgeous design that looks like a Catherine wheel. The golden colours give a country feel and make you think of natural things like wheat, straw, and grass.

Pampas Grass Wreaths To Make Your House A Home

Pampas grass has to be one of the most unique flowering plants and it is part of the poaceae family which includes wheat, barley, maize, bamboo, and ryegrass. It has tall golden stems and at the end of these you have the characteristic light yellow or gold flowers that are shaped like a feather duster.

They look amazing and when turned into a pampas wreath the effect is fantastic. These wreaths are usually circular with the pampas grass being wound round and the flower tops sprouting off towards the outside. It creates a gorgeous pattern and symmetry and the effect is magnificent.

They are one of the few wreaths where a singular item is used, but there can be other elements added to complement the golden colours like wheat, hay, and branches. These wreaths look great in the spring, summer, and autumn, but are not as common in the winter.

If you want to have a rustic decoration in your home or on your front door then why not consider a pampas wreath? It will make a focal point in your home and can complement other seasonal decorations. We have a selection of pampas wreaths available and all the accessories you need to hang them such as wreath hangers.

How to maintain your pampas wreath?

Natural pampas wreaths look fantastic due to the epic fluffy flowers and the gorgeous rustic colours. They do require maintenance, however, and it is advised to water the stems and greenery regularly. The best way to do this is by using a water spray bottle.

Just spritz a little water on the leaves and stems and this should help keep them fresh for longer. Aside from that, the plant doesn’t need much care and providing you place the wreath in a well-ventilated area then you shouldn’t have any issues

What is the best way to hang a pampas wreath?

There are several hanging methods and this depends on if you want a visible hanger or not. If you want an invisible hanging method, you need to use command strips or magnetic hangers. Command strips are essentially double-sided sticky strips that stick to your door and the wreath.

Alternatively, if you don’t mind the hanger showing, you can use a wreath hanger or a ribbon and adhesive hook. The ribbon and hook method adds a little colour to your wreath and the ribbon itself can add to the overall style and appearance of your earthy pampas wreath.

Are pampas wreaths better than artificial ones?

Real pampas wreaths do look fantastic and the flowers have that epic rusty look and are particularly great in the autumn. The downside is that these real wreaths don’t last forever and the stems and leaves will typically dry out and start to lose their appeal after two weeks.

Artificial pampas wreaths obviously last indefinitely which is a huge benefit. However, you don’t get any fragrance from them and some people argue that real wreaths always look better – regardless of how realistic the flowers are on artificial wreaths.

What is the ideal size for your pampas wreath?

The ideal pampas wreath size depends on where you want to use it. If you are hanging it from your fireplace or on your dining table, you simply need to gauge an appropriate size that looks good bust doesn’t restrict the functionality of your fireplace or table.

For your front door, the easiest way to determine a size is to measure the width of your door from the inside without the frame. You should then take off 5-10 inches from this measurement and this gives you a suitable wreath size.
