Easter is a time to celebrate – we welcome new life into our world in both the animal kingdom and natural world. The cold embrace of winter is cast aside and we start to see a glimmer of sunshine and an eruption of greenery – an Easter wreath encompasses all this glory, joy, and happiness and makes for a fantastic decoration during this holiday.

Easter wreaths are usually bursting with seasonal flowers like Daffodils and greenery to represent the end of winter. There is also a recurring theme of new life in the form of Easter eggs and animals like rabbits and chicks.

Easter Wreaths for Your Door

Easter comes amidst springtime and we celebrate various things during this traditional holiday. There is the celebration of new life as during Easter we often see newborn animals like lambs and chicks. We then have the flourish of growth that starts to appear with greenery, plants, and flowers.

Some people also celebrate the traditional religious aspect of Easter so you can really get some varied and wonderful Easter wreaths. There is no other event like Easter that gives us such variety and you can easily get a wreath to suit what you find important about this spring holiday.

Many Easter wreaths are awash with gorgeous snippets from the outdoors and nature like leaves, ferns, flowers, and petals. The flowers are often more pastel in colour compared to the vivacious summer wreaths and you get many subtle hints of pink, turquoise, yellow, green, and purple. Daffodils are common for Easter wreaths as they typically blossom around this time but you can find other seasonal bouquets too.

Alternatively, the traditional Easter wreaths are bursting with fun and these often play on the new life aspect of this holiday. Some feature small twigs and bracken to simulate bird’s nests, while many feature multi-coloured eggs and toy animals. There is nothing quite like a stunning easter wreath bursting with colour and a jolly cut toy rabbit in the middle!

However you choose to celebrate Easter we have a gorgeous wreath to match and this includes both real and artificial models. Both have their pros and cons and you can get them in a range of sizes too. Don’t forget your hanging accessories so that you can easily display your Easter wreath to your friends and family on your front door too!

How to care for an Easter Wreath?

Easter wreaths typically have flowers and greenery so care and maintenance is required if the wreath is real. Ideally, it should be kept out of directly sunlight for long periods as this will dry the greenery out and cause them to die quicker.

Regularly spraying the wreath with water too is an excellent way to keep the greenery nourished. Use a simple spray bottle to lightly spritz the flowers and leaves. You could consider soaking the items in water too for around 20 minutes.

How to hang a wreath?

For maximum impact an Easter wreath will look perfect on your front door as a decoration or you could hang it as part of a dedicated Easter display you have on your fireplace for example.

The simplest way to hang Easter wreaths is to use a traditional wreath hook which loops over the top of your door. Ribbons are also great, and you can get magnetic hangers that are less visible.

What size wreath should I buy?

In the UK our average door width is around 30 inches and, in this instance, you want an Easter wreath that is 5-10 inches smaller than this. This gives you ample space each side and means the wreath won’t look overwhelming or too small.

Just use a tape measure and make sure you know the width of your door from the inside of the frame. It’s also a great idea to find the middle of your door so you can hang the wreath accurately.

Is an artificial or real Easter wreath better?

Artificial Easter wreaths will keep for longer outdoors and still look pretty. They require little to no maintenance and you can use them for many years providing you look after them.

Real Easter wreaths typically look fresh and have brighter, more natural colors and of course you get the fantastic scents from the flowers and greenery. They do require care though and can be affected by sunlight.
