Eucalyptus wreaths are some of the most understated and simple wreaths you can buy but they look fantastic and the flowers and garlands also smell divine. These wreaths are perfect for any season include spring, summer, and winter, and can complement many different decorative styles.

The eucalyptus wreath typically doesn’t have any other greenery – just the leaves and flowers from the plant itself. The light green color of the leaves and the white flowers when in bloom look beautiful and this certainly makes a great centrepiece for any table or fireplace.

The eucalyptus is a flowering tree that is native to Australia and there are many different species. They are important in aboriginal history and culture and are also used in various industries including the production of honey and essential oils.

Due to their fantastic smell and distinctive appearance, eucalyptus wreaths have a unique look and will make a superb floral decoration for your front door, hallway, table, or fireplace. As an inside decoration, eucalyptus wreaths can be used to add sweet fragrances to any room and they typically last for around three weeks.

While most wreaths have multiple elements and natural parts like branches, leaves, and different flowers, eucalyptus wreaths are quite understated and have a uniform look. In most designs, only eucalyptus plants and flowers are used so you get a stylish light green and white colour combination.

Depending on the time of the year, some eucalyptus wreaths feature only the branches and greenery and do not have any flowers. They still look fantastic, however, and can be used for an occasion. When blossoming, you get eucalyptus wreaths complete with their white flowers which adds a gorgeous dash of colour and contrast.

We have a selection of handmade eucalyptus wreaths that you can buy and a range of accessories for hanging and displaying your garland so check them out!

How to care for your eucalyptus wreath?

Real eucalyptus wreaths require care and attention and typically the leaves will last for around 3 weeks. After this, the leaves and greenery will start to lose their freshness and wilt. To slow this process, we advise spritzing your eucalyptus garland with water daily.

It’s also a good idea to keep it out of direct sunlight for long periods as this will dry the greenery out. Make sure you are gentle when handling the wreath and you may need to prune some of the edges of the leaves if they start to turn brown and wilt.

How can you hang your eucalyptus wreath?

Eucalyptus wreaths look fantastic in your hallway, fireplace, or front door. This means that you need a way to hang them. For walls or your fireplace, command strips are the best option. These are double-sided sticky strips – one side sticks to the back of the wreath, while the other sticks to your fireplace or wall.

For your front door, this decoration can be hung using ribbon or a wreath hanger. A wreath hanger offers the easiest solution and needs no nails or tape. It is either a plastic or metal S-shape with hooks on each end. You place on hook over your door, and the other is used to support your wreath.

Which is the best - An artificial or real eucalyptus wreath?

People have preferences but both artificial and natural wreaths have their pros and cons. Real eucalyptus wreaths smell fantastic and the fragrance can disperse through your home. They also look amazing but there is the maintenance to consider, and the greenery usually only lasts for three weeks.

Artificial eucalyptus wreaths don’t have that drawback and they last indefinitely. They also look great but you obviously get no smell, and they may not look quite as appealing as natural eucalyptus flowers. Think about which you would prefer and which is best for your home situation.

How big should your eucalyptus wreath be?

You want a eucalyptus wreath that doesn’t smother your front door and look ridiculous so we advise measuring the width of your door first. Measure it from the inside – not including the door frame and at the same time find the centre point so you know where to hang it.

A superb wreath size is 5-10 inches narrower than the door. This gives plenty of space on each side of the door and means it doesn’t look too big or small. For example, if your door is 28 inches, the wreath should be 18-23 inches wide.
